The four types of prints are intaglio, relief, planographic, and monoprint.Intaglio prints are made by cutting into the matrix (printing plate), inking the plate, and wiping it clean so that only the recesses hold ink. Veils of ink intentionally left are referred to as plate tones.Relief prints are probably the most common and made by cutting into the plate and avoiding the recesses when inking.Planographic prints are made by use of principles of chemistry to differentiate the printing areas and the design field. This technique is called lithography, the name most commonly associated with this type of printing.Monoprints are created by drawing with ink on glass and then pressing your paper into the still wet ink. Only one print can be made.
Where the original would be difficult to define. Most of Escher's works are prints using lithography or wood engravings. Once the plate was complete he made a quantity of prints, all of which are considered originals. These can be found throughout the world in various museums and collections.
It's like a time-line. At this particular time, this number of prints were issed on this date, of this year, etc. The prints can be limited, so that no others will be available until the reprint is scheduled by the artist or their executors. Thus 1st editions, 2nd editions, etc. In printmaking, an artist uses a system by which there can be more than one original. A good example is silkscreening. Using a screen and screen filler, an artist makes out the shapes they would like to print, fills in the rest of the screen to keep ink out, and passes ink over the screen, transfering it to any paper or fabric or surface beneath. This can be done multiple times before the next color and shape are chosen and prepared to be printed on top. There are a certain number of prints made at a time.
It seems to be a declarative sentence, stating a fact. An exclamatory sentence would be more like: "Sally, look! Serigraphs are prints made by a silkscreen process and they make interesting patterns!"

A lithograph is a print too, produced from the lithography process and a metal plate. It is the only process to produce prints, so there are no non-lithograph prints to compare lithographs with. Some prints were made from engraved templates centuries ago, and this method is still used for stamps, but nor for prints anymore.
Andy Warhol used ( I think) a silkscreen, clay for sculpture, film, and paint.
