Yes, but be careful. My cousin accidentally lost his gym shorts during a flag football match in sixth grade. Since his side was skins, he had to run back to the locker room in nothing but his sneakers and jock strap. He was razed about this for years.

Should students be allowed to skip 6th grade?

No. School is like building a fence. If one section of the fence is left out it will fall down. What is learned in 6th grade is needed to build on in 7th. Unless a student is a genius and can do sixth grade work he/she needs to stay in 6th.

Should schools offer six grade sports?

It's certainly arguable that schools shouldn't offer sports at all and should instead focus on academics. That said, intramural sports (those where teams from different schools compete) do have some beneficial aspects. But at a sixth grade level, exactly which sports they are should be carefully thought out, since people at that age range are not yet fully developed physically, and it's vital to not overtax the developing body in such a way that would damage it. If the choice is between "no sports at all" and "all the sports played at the high school level", then the former is definitely the better choice.
