I'm a nurse and know that you should contact your child's prescriber with questions about discontinuing ANY med suddenly. Your child's prescriber may put your child on a taper schedule or want to change medications. Every BODY is different, that's why SOME meds work for SOME people, and perhaps not for others. If you have concerns, they should be made known ASAP.
