Yes reform without some kind of government option is very weak. Insurance companies would quickly find their way through loop hole etc. A government option will provide actual competition instead of making faux competition with new guidelines etc.
Also 60% of Americans approve of a Public option.
The Congress should do the will of the people and start over from scratch rather then pushing through ANY bill just to say they did something.
>A public option >Lower premiums > Cover as many uninsured as possible > Minor reforms to protect those insured
No, infact if the public option is included (which it looks like it will) insurance costs will go down. This will be because of increased competition created and the insurance companies will have to put more value into their product in order to compete.
Health insurance reform was an option where the government provides health care for everyone, by providing affordable insurance. This does not require learning a lot about financing, but it does require reading about the different options given by the reform.

Depending on which bill you mean, the Affordable Care Act of 2009 was passed in early 2010 and reconciled with the Health Care and Education Reconcilation Act by both houses. Health Care reform is thus law of the land. All other bills, including the one containing a public option, were striked from the schedule.
