Yes, but perhaps not in the way it usually is. It should be first presented in elementary school, just in scenes to watch, but using the Shakespearean dialogue. Young children are quicker than older people in grasping different dialects and linguistic idioms. Anybody I know who was exposed to Shakespeare as a child had little difficulty understanding it as a teen and has no difficulty with it as an adult. As they get older, the students should watch more and more bits of Shakespeare so that when they get to be in high school the language is not a barrier.

Likewise, children should read and perform scripts from a young age, graduating to more complex plays so that they have an understanding of how to read plays before the script to Romeo and Juliet is dropped on their lap.

Finally, the students should be made to realize that Shakespeare's plays were like TV shows, designed to entertain and often to amuse. There is nothing wrong with laughing at Shakespeare, and taking a light-hearted approach to his work. That is how it is meant to be a lot of the time.

What books did shakespeare use to write his plays?

Nothing is known for sure about Shakespeare's education. On the other hand, we can make some pretty shrewd guesses. The King's New School (now King Edward VI School) was the only grammar school in Stratford and it was likely that Shakespeare went there. (The school which is still in operation is unhesitating in claiming that he did so) We also know what kind of things they studied at that school in the sixteenth century--Latin classics. Shakespeare would have read Plutarch and Ovid, Terence and Seneca. That is why Shakespeare used plots from Plutarch (Julius Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra) and referred to stories in Ovid (Pyramus and Thisbe, Philomela).

What was William Shakespeare's school called?

Shakespeare went to the Stratford Grammar School (called King Edward VI School nowadays, then called the King's New School) at around age 6 or 7. There may have been some rudimentary instruction in letters, divinity etc. at a "Dame School", a kind of home school run by local women.

What was William Shakespeare secondary school?

There probably is at least one William Shakespeare secondary school somewhere in the word, but I suspect you want to know what secondary school Shakespeare attended. Well, it was at that time called the King's New School, but is now called King Edward VI School and is still a going concern. You could even attend it if you are a boy of the right age and you pass the entrance exam.

When did William Shakespeare go to school?

It is believed that he attended the King's Grammar School in Stratford. This is based on the fact that this was the only grammar school in Stratford and that Shakespeare seems to have had a good grasp of the standard grammar school curriculum. The school's records have been destroyed and so cannot be used to confirm this hypothesis.

What are facts about the local grammar school Shakespeare attended?

We assume that Shakespeare attended the only grammar school in Stratford, which was then called the King's New School. It was still relatively new at the time, as it had been founded by Queen Elizabeth I's brother Edward VI, which is why it is now called Edward VI grammar school. Edward VI was the only king called Edward who reigned before Shakespeare's day who did not have an Elizabethan history play written about him (Peele's Edward I, Marlowe's Edward II, the anonymous (possibly Shakespeare) Edward III, Heywood's Edward IV, and Shakespeare's Richard III which deals with Edward V) Curiously, the actor Tim Piggott-Smith, who has acted in Shakespeare's plays as well as the film V for Vendetta and others, attended the same school.
