With some applications, yes. The beam type is best for pinion preload. The click type is best in tight places. Also, never had to recalibrate a beam type.

A torque wrench should be used on all hitch classes.?

Yes a torque wrench should be used to final torqued the bolts after initial bolt installation is done. A click type torque wrench would be the fastest and most repeatable of the type of torque wrench to use for that application.

How do you use a torque wrench that does not have a dial just has a gage?

From my knowledge, it should click when you hit the right pressure. The gauge should have some indication of tightness, or you're missing something.

Is it necessary to use a torque wrench to repair a car?

There are differences in torque wrenches. One among the wrenches is the click-type torque wrench. It is an easy to handle kit. While applying the wrench and when the torque reaches the desired limit, the device automatically"clicks". This wrench could help you with providing the right amount of torque to be applied. Twisting of torque marks the desired torque to be applied.

How does a click type torque wrench work?

Well I'm not sure if you want the complete mechanical end of things... But i know some...The wrench will have usually a turn type of an adjuster on the handle specifying torque amount. It works as a ratchet wrench until you hit the specified torque and you'll feel and also hear the wrench head and handle make a loud click when you hit that desired setting."If you keep trying to ratchet the wrench will net let you go anymore it will just keep clicking until you change the torque amount up on the dial"------------------------------------------------------------------------That last statement is false- The wrench will continue to tighten the bolt/nut after it clicks. It will only click once which is when the tension 'Pawl' flicks to the side as the side tension out muscles the spring tension (torque setting you have set). Once it has flicked to the side it cannot go any further so will continue to tighten if you go past that point. If you ratchet back and have another go that is different but once you hear the click do not continue in the direction of tightening. It is very different to how say your 24V cordless drill would work.

How do you torque?

Purchase a torque wrench with the correct range. If you need to do heads and high torque bolts get one which goes to 150 ft.lbs. If your torqueing lighter bolts oil pan, intake etc.. you can use a Inch pound range. Just multiply the torque required by 12. For example if the bolt requires 10 foot pounds the inch pound setting is 120 inch pounds. Buy a good wrench "click" type is preferred. Get your required torque numbers from the appropriate shop manual.
