Most people would agree that children should not be. Unfortunately children are always involved in war. It simply cannot be avoided. Either as victims, the descendants of victims or participants.
Nobody should fight in a war. Wars serve the interests of the rulers.
Civilians (women and children) are often caught up in war. They are normally evacuated to safer areas as soon as possible.

That depends on what war you are refering to. Throughout history, many children have been involved in war, and currently still are, especially in Southeast Asia and Africa.
Children in England were taught about the war and Germany. Many were shown propaganda and asked to write essays to express their feeling towards missing parents and the effect of the war. Children were emotionally involved in the war and many young boys went off to fight.
Children were not involved as perpetrators, if that is what you mean.
Canada did not have any obligation to be involved in World War 1. Canada had no personal grievances against any of the powers involved.
