To get into MAST, you will need meet minimum requirements on an entrance exam, and obtain higher qualifications than other students from your home school district; this includes students which attend non-public schools. One student per district will be accepted pending the meeting minimum test requirements. Additional students will have to meet the test requirements and have higher qualification than other students from throughout the county. Qualification depend: 1. semester grades earned during seventh grade and the first semester of eight grade. 2. the evaluation of an application essay (which should be personal, not just a well written). 3. the entrance exam. While it may be difficult to obtain high grades in advance Algebra classes taken in eight grade, it will help the the student do better on the entrance exam. After acceptance, MAST students are required to meet Naval physical fitness test which includes being timed while doing sit-ups, push-ups, and running a mile and a half. Recently, the run may be reduced to only a mile. Students should consider being prepared to meet the fitness requirements when applying to MAST.
