I am not US citizen.
I participate with my boys in scouting where we have a flag ceremony at each major meeting. The flag is brought up and the pledge of allegiance is recited.
Since I respect the other people in the room, I stand silently while this is done.
When the pledge of allegiance is recited, I stand silently on the side.
I do not recite the pledge because it would not be authentic since I am not a citizen, but, I show respect by standing next to others.
Even though I am not a US citizen, I am a citizen of another country and understand and believe in showing respect to ones flag and symbols.
In my mind, this is like when you attend a sporting event and another countries flag and national anthem is sung, you stand silently showing respect.
It is a compelling visual signal to all who witness that you have respect for your country.
No they can not compel you to stand but you should out of respect for the flag and what it means to the people of the nation in wich you obviously reside.
be nice to the flag and respect it and charice it
respect our flag
There are many things that you could list out of respect for the flag. You should list how to take care of it.
It should be furled and unfurled, folded and stored with respect. It should not be soiled, burnt or destroyed.
Three of the things one should never do out of respect to a national flag are: burn it deface it fly it upside down
You should show respect for your country's flag because it is your country's highest and most recognizable symbol, and the way you treat it is representative of your attitude towards your country. Obviously is you have no respect for your country, traditions, culture and history, you have no reason to show any special respect for your flag over any other piece of cloth, but if you have respect for your country, treating the flag appropriately is a manifestation of that. Flag etiquette varies somewhat from country to country, but the basics are that the flag should not touch the ground, should be kept in good repair, flown the right way up, and flown at the same height as all other national flags.
i think the flag stands for a honor of our contry, states. Also the i think it stands for the respect of our country.
The American flag should be flown above a light as a sign of respect
Citizens should adhere to the following etiquette rules regarding the national flag: First, it should be displayed prominently and respectfully, never touching the ground. Second, the flag should be raised briskly and lowered ceremoniously, ensuring it is not allowed to remain tattered or damaged. Third, when the national anthem is played, individuals should stand and face the flag, showing respect. Lastly, the flag should be illuminated if displayed at night and taken down during inclement weather unless it is an all-weather flag.
Well, if you're in the US, you certainly do. I don't know what they do in England, but you should because it's the respect issue. If they're showing a flag, doubly so. Remember to remove your hat!
