Well the good thing about getting 2 video cards and linking them is that if one card dies you still have another to use until you can buy a new one. Also you can buy 2 less expensive cards and combine them into a card with like 1-2GB of ram. On the other hand I have heard from friends of mine that combine card that sometimes it can be a pain to get everything working correctly. I have never used SLI or Crossfire, I think it's still called Crossfire.
Personally I have always gone with saving up my $$$ to purchase 1 great card. I used to be a huge ATI fan even though I always ran Intel chips. But after many years of many problems dealing with ATI I switched to Nvidia. The card I run now I bought like at least 3 years ago. It is an Nvidia 250 with 1GB of GDDR3 ram. Even though it is old I can still run games like Battlefield 3, SW:TOR, and even Mass Effect 3 on 1440x900 resolution using Medium Medium-High options when it comes to Anti-Aliasing & stuff like that.
Not sure if that will answer you question or if it even helps you out. I guess it really all depends on what your system specs are and if you feel comfortable enough to mess with things like SLI.
To play WoW Cataclysm it is recommended to have a NVIDIA GeForce FX or ATI Radeon 9500 video card or better. If you were to buy a $40 or more graphics card now you should be fine. That doesn't mean it will run with full graphics just that it will work decently.
Most computers have a build in graphics chip, You will not need a graphics card to just watch a movie. If you want to watch a movie in High Def, or you want a better quality then you can get with a built in chip; You can get a graphics card that is suitable for the model of computer that you have.
Yes, because the recommended graphics card is, well, just that: a recommendation. There should also be something that says minimum system requirements, which is what you need to have at the minimum to run the game.
On board video, or better known/told as integrated graphics, is a 'graphics card' found in a CPU. Most Intel CPUs have integrated graphics in them. It just means a graphics card is not required, and video devices (such as a monitor) are plugged into the video ports of a motherboard.
If you mean you want to use a graphic card and not your onboard graphics , then yes. But you don't touch the chip, when you install a card into the slot, and remove your onboard graphic drivers, then install your card drivers, then you will be using the card. Most cards will tell you how to install the card and when to uninstall drivers and when to install them. Almost all motherboards have a slot that can run a graphics card. Just make sure its better than your onboard or you will be wasting your time.
Well i had the same problem and not just with guild wars and i tried everything to solve it and i mean every thing but in the end it just came down to buying a better video graphics card
You need a graphics card to use a monitor. What you mean to ask is if onboard graphics are enough to run photoshop, which they are. with CS5 you will see slightly better results with a high end graphics card if you are using the 3d features. With 2d editing you will barley notice a difference by switching to a better graphics card. The best way to increase photoshop performance by changing 1 part is to go from hdd to ssd for your storage, unless your system has too low of memory or is just really old and has a dated cpu.
take out your graphics card hit it with a sledge hammer. factory settings is when the graphics card doesnt even work. honestly just kidding about the sledge hammer
the most high end graphics card from ati is the hd4870 x2 which is basically just 2 hd4870s in one card
A video card is just another name for a graphics card. They are one and the same.
Well, you can just replace the graphics card with a 512mb card or a higher one.
The answer is : Just keep practicing and then you will get better and better!
