How did the US Senate react to President Roosevelt's pledge to the League of Nations?
When US President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked the Senate to pass a resolution authorizing the President, at his discretion, to embargo arms shipments to aggressor nations, the Senate decided to amend the requested resolution. The Senate believed that if a president embargoed arms to an aggressor nation, it might involve the US in a war. The Senate therefore amended the resolution to embargo all nations should a dispute arise among both friendly and aggressive nations. This was a blow to his pledge to help the League of Nations.

Should there be a world government If yes who should elect it and what powers should it have?
I'm in favour of it. I think it is a good way to represent all the peoples, nations, languages and cultures of the world. Everyone on earth should have the chance to elect it. In fact, there has been calls for the United Nations to establish a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly consisting of elected citizens from all over the world. It is estimated there will be 1000 to 2000 seats in this World Parliament. It will be one step to a Global Government.
What did President Hoover think the government should do about the Great Depression?
President Hoover believed that during tough economic times, people should (and some would) help themselves. While Americans wanted their president to do something about the depression, Hoover wanted the Americans to do something about their "own" problems. Hoover stated, "The lesson should be constantly enforced that though the people support the government, the government should not support the people." He also said, "I do not believe that the power and duty of the general government ought to be extended to the relief of individual suffering."

Why did people blame president Hoover?
President Hoover believed that during tough economic times, people should (and some would) help themselves. While Americans wanted their president to do something about the depression, Hoover wanted the Americans to do something about their "own" problems. Hoover stated, "The lesson should be constantly enforced that though the people support the government, the government should not support the people." He also said, "I do not believe that the power and duty of the general government ought to be extended to the relief of individual suffering." People blamed President Hoover because of his belief that government should be somewhat separated from the people. People of the 1930s wanted a frequently involved president.
Asked in Barack Obama
3 powers of the president?
There are more than three, but let me deal with only three of his powers. The US president is the head of the Executive Branch of government, so: (1) The president has the power to sign or veto laws (the constitution says the president is responsible for the execution and enforcement of the laws created by Congress, which is the Legislative Branch of our government). The president can also implement laws by issuing an Executive Order. (2) The president appoints federal judges and can also grant pardons in federal cases. (3) The president is the commander in chief of the Armed Forces. It should also be noted that the president has other powers, as the head of state and leader of our government. These including the ability to negotiate and sign treaties with other nations, and also to select the members of the cabinet.

Is there a website to turn in people that complain about President Obama and the government?
No, this is another internet myth. People complain about presidents all the time, and they also complain about the government. Since Americans are guaranteed freedom of speech, they can write to a newspaper or post on a blog or call a talk show and express their disapproval of the president or the government. Contrary to internet myths usually found on conservative websites, President Obama has not arrested anyone who complained about him. But it should be noted that any person who makes a threat against the president will receive a visit from the Secret Service or from law enforcement: complaining about the president is protected speech but threatening or advocating violence is not protected at all, nor should it be.
