My vote is no they shouldn't. Not every autistic person is at the level of an intellectual person. Some are intellectual. Many autistics have an high IQ level than an average intellectual. Autistic people do have meltdowns for a reason (sensory overloads, crowded areas, schedue changing, if a schedule is too demanding or if they are not getting enough down time and alone time, too much socializing). People are the main thing they struggle with.

There are very few specific schools that are strictly for autism, however there are special education schools. I work with someone who sends their child to a special school that knows how to treat autism as well as other learning disorders. They have special training in how to teach kids with different abilities. Try looking into a school more like this and you should be able to find one.
