School is for education. Physical education in school usually consisted of playing dodgeball and standing around for half the period. There is nothing wrong with having a mandatory program for PE in school, but it shouldn't be the focal point. If my kid wants more physical activity, they can join a team for after school practice and on the weekends. It should be the responsibility of parents, not of schools, to make sure out kids aren't obese. School is for strengthening the mind, not the biceps.
