Discounts for Disney?

The Mouse does not come cheap these days but there are some ways you can minimize the cost. If you are part of a teacher's union, you may be able to get discounted rates that way. AAA also offers Disney discounts. But the best way to get discounted Disney rates would be to travel during "off peak" times which typically means not during the summer, spring break or winter break.

May you give some history about animated movies?

Walt Disney Animation Studiosis an American animation studio headquartered in Burbank, California. The studio, founded in 1923 as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio by brothers Walt & Roy Disney, is the oldest subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. It is responsible for creating the company's well-known animated feature films & short subjects.Walt Disney Animation Studios has released 51 films in what is known as the "Disney Animation Canon." The first one, Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs, was released in 1937, & the most recent, Winnie The Pooh, was released in 2011.Production of features was temporarily suspended due to World War II, between the releases of Bambi and Cinderella, partially because a huge amount of what the studio produced was for the army, especially propaganda films. Pinocchio was intended to be the studio's third film, after Bambi. However, Bambi proved to be a challenging film to adapt, so Pinocchio was moved ahead in production while Bambiwas put on hold. Development of The Little Mermaid also started soon after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the late 1930s, but was put on hold due to various circumstances. The Disney Renaissance refers to an era beginning roughly in the late 1980's and ending in the late 1990's, during which Walt Disney Animation Studios returned to making successful animated films mostly based on stories that were known to many, restoring public & critical interest in Disney. The animated films released during this period include: The Little Mermaid (1989), The Rescuers Down Under (1990), Beauty and the Beast(1991), Aladdin (1992), The Lion King (1994), Pocahontas (1995), The Hunchback of Notre Dame(1996), Hercules (1997), Mulan (1998) and Tarzan (1999).Shortly after Pocahontas's release, Toy Story was released in theaters in late 1995, Pixar Animation Studios' 1st feature film as well as the first ever feature film to be made entirely with CGI. A Bug's Life is a 1998 American computer-animated adventure comedy film produced by Pixar and released by Walt Disney Pictures in the United States on November 25, 1998, & the 3rd American computer-animated film after Toy Story & DreamWorks' Antz.Antz is notable for being part of the Pixar-DreamWorks feud. The movie was released a little more than a month before Pixar's A Bug's Life. Though people say they are similar in many ways, the only true commonality they have is that they both include a worker ant falling in love with a princess ant.Jeffrey Katzenberg left Pixar in 1994 to form DreamWorks. According to Katzenberg, the idea for Antz came from a 1991 story pitch by Tim Johnson that was related to Katzenberg in October 1994. However, Pixar had been working on developing an ant movie since 1988.Pixar head John Lasseter pitched A Bug's Life the day Katzenberg left Disney in August 1994, and said he felt "betrayed" when he learned Antz was scheduled for release before A Bug's Life. According to Lasseter and Steve Jobs, Katzenberg offered to stop development of Antz if Disney moved the release date of A Bug's Life, which was coming out opposite DreamWorks' The Prince Of Egypt. Pixar refused. The release date of Antz was moved up from March 1999 to October 1998 in response to Pixar's refusal. Even though A Bug's Life was the first to be pitched, Antz was finished and released first. However, A Bug's Life was higher-grossing than Antz. Pixar made a $26-million deal with Disney to produce three computer-animated feature films, the first of which was Toy Story. Pixar and Disney had disagreements after the production of Toy Story 2. Originally intended as a straight-to-video release (and thus not part of Pixar's three-picture deal), the film was eventually upgraded to a theatrical release during production. Pixar demanded that the film then be counted toward the three-picture agreement, but Disney refused.Although DreamWorks has also made traditionally animated films about serious subjects earlier, such as The Prince Of Egypt, Joseph: King Of Dreams, The Road To El Dorado, Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron, & Sinbad: Legend Of The Seven Seas, most of their computer-generated films & television series have now gained the studio a reputation for being focused on humor & satire. The studio has made two movies based on Bible stories, The Prince Of Egypt (1998) based on the Book of Exodus, & Joseph: King Of Dreams(2000/Directo-to-Video) (based on the final chapter of the Book of Genesis). The Prince of Egypt is Critically Acclaimed while Joseph has good reviews. It is unknown yet unlikely for a 3rd movie based on Joshua to be made, since DreamWorks' 2D department was shutdown due to the box-office failure of Sinbad: Legend Of The Seven Seas, unless it is computer animated or a different story is made with CGI. There were also plans to make movies about Tulio and Miguel (along with Chel and Altivo) searching for other legends, but due to the poor box-office performance, the series was scrapped. Shrek was released in theaters in 2001 & was made the mascot for the company's animation production. The film's success also made DreamWorks Animation create three sequels: Shrek 2, Shrek The Third, Shrek Forever After: The Final Chapter, & finally a spin-off series: Puss In Boots.Meanwhile, Pixar & Disney attempted to reach a new agreement in early 2004. Pixar helped Disney with the animation of Chicken Little in 2005, the 1st fully computer-animated 3-D film in the Disney Animation Canon, followed by Meet The Robinsons & Bolt. Dinosaur (with live-action backgrounds) was not originally a part of the Disney Animation Canon, but in 2008, it became the 39th animated feature produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, while The Emperor's New Groove, which had once been Disney's 39th animated feature, became its 40th instead.Pixar produced a short film, Tokyo Mater, the 1st short to be released with a different company, the film being Bolt. Shortly after Bolt's release, The Princess & The Frog, the 1st 2D-animated film for five years, since Disney 2004's Home On The Range, was released in late 2009, and succeeded in renewing interest in the product. Home On The Range was also the last Disney animated film to be released on VHS.On November 24th, 2010, Disney's 50th animated motion picture, Tangled, Disney's 1st 3D-animated fairy-tale, although Chicken Little was not technically considered a fairy-tale, was released in late 2010. The opening & closing logos & marketing materials for Tangled still refer to the film's number. The film was originally titled & marketed as Rapunzel, until it was changed to Tangled shortly before its release, marking it as a duo.Shortly after the film's release, the Los Angeles Times reported that Ed Catmull said the "princess" genre of films was taking a hiatus until, "someone has a fresh take on it … but we don't have any other musicals or fairytales lined up." He explained that they were looking to get away from the princess era due to the changes in audience composition and preference. However in the Facebook page, Ed Catmull stated that this was just a rumor.Walt Disney Animation Studios veteran Burny Mattinson has also confirmed a new feature-length Mickey Mouse film is also currently in the development. If greenlit, the latter will be the 54th full-length theatrical animated feature in the Disney Animation Canon, & the 1st starring Mickey & his friends, similar to Winnie The Pooh, released in 2011.
