The diameter of the discharge line leaving the ac compressor would be smaller than the suction line, because the compressed gas in the discharge line is more dense.
It will be on the suction line (larger of the lines) between the compressor and the evaporator.

Go to autozone and get a recharging kit. The suction line will be in the back near the firewall
Follow the larger line from the a/c compressor
The low pressure switch is usually on either the h valve, accumulator, or in the suction line.
Outside. Anything you do to the inside will restrict air flow.
If you have to ask this question, perhaps you should not be the one adding the refrigerant. It is not a skinny or fat line, it is a liquid(or discharge) or a suction line. You would add it to the liquid line and the pressure is dependant upon several things.
The low side service port is located on the suction line at the top of the engine.....
