No, not at all, because the Quran is the word of god, and nobody has the right to change it or alter it to suit their needs.

Correction: Of course, it has a lot of errors and mistaken verses. Some of them are not by God (Allah) and have no rational meaning to be linked to a god. A god can't prompt hitting a woman if she didn't listen to her husband!! this must have been a tradition followed by people living in a closed and ignorant society (which is justified then due to lack of education and modern life). Thus, some of the verses should absolutely be updated just like The Bible is being updated every now and then to fit modern life and new changes like gay marriages...etc. As a muslim, I believe that the original Quran should be left alone as a historical book. But another version should carefully be updated to serve as the holy book muslims follow in their daily life and practice. the new version should only contain meaningful and rational verses that serve today's society and any other verses from old time that meant to serve that time should not be included. It's possible to distinguish traditional verses (that were included in the Quran) from holy verses that came from either Allah or his Prophet (regardless of the source the concept should be the same: to serve a better purpose and fix humanity through spiritual connection) because traditional verses carry a shallow meaning and serve a specific time period or a specific society, they've a life span such as verses that encourage fighting the disbelievers who then caused problems to the peaceful islamic message, and verses that permits men to marry 4 wives because women then often lost their husbands to ongoing battles with disbelievers (trouble makers)...etc. While genuine, holy, blessed...verses carry a deep meaning that serve every society and every time period, they are a life forever. Such as being honest, loving everyone and respecting other religions, treating women with respect and giving them their rights, treating others like you wish to be treated...etc those are every where in the Quran.

That said, any closed minded muslim (due to lack of good education in the islamic countries and Middle East in general) who reads my comment will be angered and insulted by it. They believe that the Quran is one holy piece that can fit anytime and any society which of course is incorrect simply because those verses can't and most of them aren't being followed due to their useless outcome like cutting a thief's hand..etc. Please don't blame muslims for their careless actions and baseless thinking...the issue is a lot deeper than you think. Their societies are a lot different than western ones and are very limited to education. This matter needs to be fixed dramatically by fortunate and intelligent muslims who are sadly few to make a difference.
