It shouldn't be too loose and it shouldn't too tight. It should be loose enough for you to just slide your fingers between, and it should be tight enough for the saddle to stay secure.

To keep the saddle from rotating when you get on your horse you need to tighten the girth. If you have tightened the girth all the way and it is still too loose, you probably need to get a smaller girth.

If you mean do you check that the saddle is still tight on the horse, absolutely! Check your girth; ideally, it should be tight enough that you can slide your fingers under it, but you can't lift it up from the horse's side. Also check your girth if you've been riding for a while but plan to do some work that will involve galloping or tight turns. This is an extremely important thing; a loose saddle can slide off a horse and cause you to fall. I've done this and wound up with a moderate concussion and back damage. When you remove your horse saddle first you have to do what?
Dismount, if you haven't already. With an English saddle, slide the stirrup irons up the stirrup leathers and tuck them so they won't come loose. With a western style saddle, you may wish to hook the off stirrup over the horn, but this isn't 100% necessary. Then undo the girth from the near side. If you are being slow and neat, walk around to the off side and put the girth over the saddle. Otherwise, just grab the pommel and the cantel and lift/pull the saddle off gently. If you didn't put the girth over the saddle yet, grab it as it comes over the horse's back and sling it over the saddle. Make sure all the cinches are undone and any other tack and that the horse is either tyed or hobbled.
How tight should a girth be on a horse?
Supposing you already have the saddle on correctly, attach the girth to one side (the saddles I use, it is the horses right side, but yours may be different). Then, make sure the girth is not twisted, and go to the other side. Then attach it on that side, so that it is attached on both sides. I would only make it snug, and then do some ground work, tighten it a little bit more, do a bit more ground work, tighten it as much as you can, and then do a little bit more before checking it one more time before getting on. If you have a back girth, the back girth should not be tight. I go by a few (3-4) fingers between the horses stomach and the back girth. It is english, but western is pretty much the same thing, only it also has a back cinch, but I described that already. If you don't know how, you need to have somebody show you in person so you don't harm him/her.

For safeties sake no ,.Your stirrups should be pulled up before the saddle is removed and when you get off your horse at anytime.Horses can and have got their jaw caught in a loose stirrup,they've taken fright of a loose stirrup. stirrups should also be stored pulled up onto the saddle when not in use riding and the whole saddle dustcovered. I always pull the stirrups up before removing the sadde, so they don't bash my shins while walking.....yep pull them up before removal.

But to a saddle shrink one way would be to clean,and oil your saddle first and then put it out into the sunlight to dry.it can be very harmful to your saddle by making it brittle and crack and oil will not fix that and it will loose coloration towards the whole saddle.
How do you remove your horse's saddle?
Ok, this is going to be a bit confusing, but try to bear with me... Ok, on in English saddle you are going to lift up the leather underneath the left stirrup leather. You should see 2 to 3 buckles depending on the type of saddle/cinch. All you need to do is pull up on the strap that's doing through the buckle and pull the metal bar (on the buckle) down. Do this for the second and third straps. Viola! Your done!! All you need to do now is Put the cinch on top of the saddle, grab the saddle and pad firmly in the front of the saddle, using your left hand, and the back of the saddle, using your left hand. Pull the saddle off the horses left side and Your done!! In a western saddle the process is slightly diffrent. Take the left stirrup and hook it on the horn. This will make it much easier to access the girth. You should see a long leather or cloth strap. If it looks like a tie, all you need to do is follow the strap through the center of the knot, back around the right side of the D ring, and through the left side. At this point, the strap should just be going though the D ring and the cinch. Pull the strap until its loose. Then, once the saddle is loose, grab the strap at the middle and loop it back through the D ring, go over to the other side of the horse and pull the cinch back over the top of the saddle. Then go back to the left side of the horse, and pull the saddle and pad off. If it just looks like a buckle then just un loop it from the side ring, take the strap through the D ring, then un loop it from the cinch until the metal that goes through the hole is exposed. Then as if you were tightening the saddle, pull up, pull the metal bar out of the hole and continue until loose. Sorry I hope that wasnt too confusing!! This is what i do: #1- I take a cloth, wet it and take off all the loose dirt on the saddle. # 2- I take some Liquid Glycerine saddle soap (Leather new) and spray it on the saddle then scrub it into the saddle (Whatever you do, Don't let it run) #3- Once your finishes that clean the cloth in warm water then squeeze the water out and effortlessly wipe the surface of the saddle. #4- Use a different cloth and i either recommend Leather CPR Or Effax Leather balsam and scrub into the saddle. #5- Check your saddle for Non treated scuffs and scratches, if there is 1 you didn't do it properly.
