My answer would be: The deceased's son should have shown the proper respect to his cousin by introducing him to others in attendance, especially close friends, instead of ignoring the cousin and his wife, making them feel like outsiders. This particular couple kept a close relationship with the deceased aunt over many years and deserved acknowledgment at her funeral.
