The shift solenoids are part of the valve body assembly. It is located on the transmission where it mates to the engine.
The shift censor in this model may need replaced . There also may be a problem with the linkage in the transmission.

When driving a stick shift, you shift up as the engine begins to rev in each gear. You will downshift as the engine begins to slow.
Two things, If its interlocked by the brake pedal, Try taking it out of park with the engine off. If you can its a brake switch/lock soleniod fault. If not that, you are probably using park without the parking brake and have put excess wear on the park dog. If on flat, try rocking the car. If on slope try pushing up slope whilst someone else takes it out of park
