Can zakat be given to a person before Ramadan starts as not to know and hurt the feelings of the other person?

Few points - It is the "right" of the poor people to get zakat from the rich. The rich are not doing them any favour. The rich have to obey the orders of Allah. This means that poor should not be ashmed to take zakat. - The poor is doing favour by accepting the zakat and not the other way round. Another reason why poor should not be ashmed to take zakat. - Zakat can be given any time of the year but its calculation should be kept at the same time of year. maybe January 2nd of every year or say 1st Ramadhan of every year etc. - People give Zakat in Ramadhan only because you get more blesssings from Allah during that month. Its not mandatory to give zakat only in Ramadhan. It is only mandatory to finish giving before eid. - There are many people who keep giving zakat all round the year because of many reasons 1) they don't want to say no if deserving person is in need 2) the zakat amount is huge so they ease the burden by giving it slowly over the year.

Giving zakat support of the needy?

Salam, Al hamodullah I give directly to them, as we then know the money where it is going. 2.5% of your income after deductions to the masjed. Zakat Al Mal 10 dollars per person for Ramadan Zakat - Zakat Al Fitr Anything else is sudica (charity). We give if we can, if we are in debt then we need to get out of that and back above zero. Its hard in today's world not to accept credit so may Allah help those who are in debt inshAllah amin. Peace Ankaboot

Zakat is a certain amount of the entire amount of wealthsomeone possesses. How is zakah distributed?

Zakat is the Fourth Pillar of Islam. It is also a duty of a Muslim sister or brother. When you donate your Zakat, it will hopefully be distributed to the less fortunate or the poor. It includes: young childern, adults, elderly people, disabled, etc. May Allah (SWT) give blessings to those who give Zakat and help those in need. Ameen.

Why does zakah happen?

Paying zakat has two important goals: it helps the poor, and it purifies a Muslim's income. Muslims pay zakat because Allah ordered us to do it, in the Holy Qur'an. Not only Islam even in Christianity. Christianity is the message of forgiving and loving each other and Zakat is the Arabic word for giving poor people money and since Qur'an came in Arabic Mulims use it. It relives your soul and helps the poor and erases the hatred between poor people and rich people im Muslim. .. .. .. 4gottensoul....

Should zakat be paid every year on plot purchased?

Answer from website: http://www.khalidzaheer.com/qa/709Our understanding is that the law of Zakat given to us by the Prophet, has three categories: Zakat on livestock, production, and wealth. The details of each one of these categories is different. Zakat on wealth is applicable on all assets that are not in our daily use provided their combined value is more than the minimum threshold of nisaab . If there were exceptions to this rule during the times of the companions, there must have been reasons accompanying those exceptions. For example, in the case of land, it was either agricultural land that they had in their ownership, on which Zakat was paid in the form of Ushr or they had land which didn't carry value the way it does today. Even if land did carry value, it wasn't expressed in the form of price the way it is done now. Since plots of land in excess of one's need are very much a part of the total wealth people own today and they know their precise value, calculating Zakat to be paid on them is no problem today. There is no reason why Zakat shouldn't be paid on them today. It doesn't make religious sense that wealth owned in the form of gold and silver should be subject to Zakat but the same value stored in the form of plots should be exempt. God Almighty is neither against gold or silver nor is He in favour of land. He wants us to pay 2.5% Zakat every year on allwealth we own. And it is only He who knows the best. For example: http://www.islamicvoice.com/December.98/zakat.htmWhether Zakat is Obligatory on PlotsQ.2. I had purchased 3 plots of land five years back, one for constructing a house to live in, second one for constructing shops and the third one for selling it. Have I to pay Zakat on all these every year? If I have to pay, is it to be paid on the cost of their purchase or according to the value of land every year as it varies?Ans. Of the three plots, you have purchased, one is for the purpose of constructing a house to live in , on the price of that plot Zakat is exempted. You have to pay Zakat on the other two plots every year as per the market value each year. For example, if you have purchased the plot for Rs.50,000/= and now the market value of that plot is one lakh rupees, you have to pay Zakat on the amount equivalent to one lakh rupees only. Conclusion:If the intent is to own a plot for building a house for personal use in the future then Zakat is not obligatory on that plot. If plot is intended as an investment and for sale in the future when the market value is profitable, then zakat is obligatory on that plot for every year it remains under your ownership and to be calculated as 2.5% of the market value at the time of paying zakat.

What is the differences between Zakat and Sadaqat?

Zakat is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and is obligatory for all eligible Muslims to give a portion of their wealth to those in need. Sadaqah, on the other hand, is voluntary charity that can be given at any time and in any amount. While Zakat has specific rules and conditions, Sadaqah can be given freely to support various charitable causes.
