I don't think you can really answer it that cut and dry. Maybe the question would be better asked "Do Video Games influence teenagers to have violent tendencies?) In this case I would agree that it could influence a teen to do a violent act because todays teens seem to be more "desensitized" to violence. With the strong influence from constant game playing and the constant violence on tv it is everywhere. This brings me to the other point. Not every teen that plays these games commits violence. This I believe is because somewhere around this teen is someone that they look up that is grounded and they use as a model. This could be a teacher, friend, parent anyone. Maybe they don't even know. Somewhere someone has shown them right from wrong. If this basic moral ethic goes unchecked then you end up with the violence and gangs and that sort of thing. Anyway that is my two cents and that is how I see it the older I get. Hope this helps.

P.S. I enjoy a few of those blowem away with everything you got type games and I don't go around hurting people.

OtaGamer Says: This is a difficult question to answer, since no one has proven it to be true. Obviously, there are many factors tht can cause violence in teenagers, such as breakups, failing a test, being kicked off of a sports team, drugs, alcohol, and bullying. Family issues can also cause violence in teens, like divorce or the death of a famiy member. Most games that contain violence are so fantastical ( here meaning like a fantasy), that it would be impossible to replicte such acts in real life, such as in games like in some games where characters use magic or futuristc weaponry like laser-swords. When it comes to games that show realistic violence, like Call of Duty and Manhunt, the games are meant to be played by people who are mature, and near adulthood. Most places that sell violent games require the buyer of a Mature rated game to be 18 or older. Obviously, parents should make sure that their children are mature enough to play these games, or do what they see fit. There are some 13-year-olds who play M games before 16-year-olds because their parents feel that they are mature enough to understand the difference between shooting Nazis in a video game, and commiting murder in the real world. Anyone who plays violent games and then becomes violent obviously is not mature or responsible enough to be playing violent games. ( In an interesting peice of history, one of the first violent games was Mortal Kombat, where players defeated their opponents with gruesome fatalities, such as ripping out someone's spine or tearing their heart out with their bare hands. In some very ironic cases, angry parents who thought that their children were becoming violent because of the game formed angry mobs, tore the arcade machine from the arcade that bought it, and set it on fire. To combat this belief that all video games cause violence, Mortal Kombat 2 featured a fatality where character Johnny Cage hugged an enemy, causing him to win. During this sequence, the announcer, who usually announced, " FATALITY!", instead said, "Friendship!", and then in a confused voice, he said, " Friendship?").

It is possible. Games such as Gears of War can inspire you to do those things in real life. Also, Halo and WWE (I have the game, it does not inspire me, but it can to you) can inspire. SO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE DEAD, DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!

I think a person of any age can play whatever they want, but children should be monitered. Parents who think games are pushing the limits of violence must not be very good parents if they: One- Allow their children to play violent games with killing and suggestive themes, and Two- dont raise their children better to not copy acts that they see in media, games, and cinema.

i would say not really. if the child actually has a parent who is active in their lives and the child knows what would happen if he acted out then he would have a extrodinarally less chance of acting out with it.

I am one of thoes people, i mainly use violent video games as a way to relive stress. Such as if i get extrodinarally angry i either go play resident evil or grand theft auto for about 20 minutes and that 99% of the time gets me out of my angry mood. depends on how mentally ill the kid is

If they're underage, they shouldn't, but if they can handle it well, such as violence or adult themes, you shouldn't stop them.

Are violent to blame for violent society and should they be banned?

Violent video games are not the sole cause of violence in society, as multiple factors contribute to such behavior. Implementing a ban on violent video games may not effectively address the root causes of violence. It is important to focus on comprehensive approaches that address mental health, social influences, and access to weapons to address violence in society.

No, violent video games teach kids about life and how it is and how it will be in the modern age...

Do violent games lead to violent behaviour?

yes, mostly children above +15 are mature enough to see that it is stupid to hurt some one ells Not necessarily. They can provide an outlet for people to make them less violent. There are some very passive people out there who play very violent games. Sometimes it's people who don't play the games, or who don't really understand them that make sweeping statements, trying to pin the blame on computer games. Studies have shown that the correlation is more that violent people will prefer violent games, rather than the games making the players violent.

Video games do not make kids violent.

Does violent video games and movies make people violent and more likely to commit crimes?

No violent games/films don't cause that behaviour. Its that parents blame video games/films for teens being out of control, doing drugs, gang-banging, etc. But as I said before violent games/films do not cause this behaviour. I should know because I've watched "violent" films and played "violent" games since I was little. I am a normal adult and am non-violent.
