- If you truly still loved your boyfriend then depression after a break up is very normal, but will fade as time goes on and you meet someone else. However, if you felt you weren't in love with your boyfriend near the end of the relationship you probably won't feel depressed and may even feel as if a mountain has been lifted from your shoulders.
