One of the main ways to determine if you should be using an archive or a library is whether or not the original document is required. An archive houses original copies, and items can be rare, fragile, and valuable. As well, an archive will also have items that contain information that may not be available anywhere else. For example, if you want to look at the complete birth record from a specific place and year, then an archive may be the only place to do so.

A library, on the other hand, is less likely to have original copies. Instead, within a library you will find information that has been gathered and synthesized by an author, and is unlikely to contain the wealth of details that are available from an archival source.

What has the author E Demissie written?

E. Demissie has written: 'An infrastructure for documentation, library and archive services in Ethiopia'

In piece of writing 'the Library' should it be capitalised?

"Nope." Improved answer: Normally, no. The library should be written as I have just done, without capitalization. However, if you are talking about a specific library and using its title, such as "The Central Public Library of Nowheresville," you should capitalize the word library within the title. On rare occasions, it is okay to capitalize "The Library" if you are talking about "the" library in the U.S. - the Library of Congress. But even that is not generally accepted.

How do you setup auto-archive in Entourage on a Mac?

According to Microsoft Support - Entourage 2001 does not have a method to automatically archive messages. I am not sure what version of Entourage your are using, but you might try this method: To manually archive messages: 1. Minimize the Entourage window by clicking the resize tab at the bottom left of the window so that your Macintosh desktop or other folder is visible. 2. Click the folder or item that you want to archive, and then drag the item to the location in which you want to store the archive. 3. Release the mouse button. A file is created with the name of the original item or folder. To restore an archive to the Entourage folder view: 1. Locate the Entourage archive file on your desktop or in the folder where you stored it. 2. Double-click the archive file, and then click Import when you receive the following message: Do you want to import the messages in this file into a new folder? ------------ Using Entourage 2008, there is a much better way to archive using .rge file archive format, not the MBOX archive format described above. How do you change a notepad file to a regular zip file?

To add a notepad (.txt) file to a .zip archive format, you need a certain program. I recommend using WinRAR 3.71 (rarlab.com/download.htm). Once installed, create the notepad file, and then right click on it and select "Add to Archive." You should then be able to create a .zip format archive with a notepad file inside.
