When looking at an extended warranty, there is one important factor to keep in mind: companies that sell these warranties sell them to make profit. In other words, they are priced so that after paying typical repairs for any given car, the insurer will still earn profit. For car owners that choose to purchase an extended warranty, there are two important factors. The first is a provider who will allow use of a franchised dealer’s repair department and pay them directly.
