Yes, you can get replacement keys for a 1997 Dodge 1500 using the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Many locksmiths and dealerships can use the VIN to determine the correct key cuts and programming required. However, if the key has a transponder chip, additional programming may be necessary, which typically requires specialized equipment. Always check with a certified locksmith or dealership for the best options.
The "chip" or programmer should have that listed on the package.

Chip? Dodge does not have any replaceable "chips" in any of its computers.
A chip? If you mean a chip for a performance upgrade, then you should know that the Grand Prix does not use a chip. You have to get your PCM (Computer) reprogrammed. Check out zzperformance.com

I added: Hypertech chip, K&N air filter, headers with dual exhaust. The best improvement came from the headers.
There should only be one bolt that holds the clip on
It will increase performance but will decrease mileage, not increase it. More performance uses more fuel.
