Pellets give the rabbit fiber and nutrients. You need to give your baby rabbits pellets. It is needed in adults but not needed as much. Vegetables are also important but try not to give your rabbit too much veggies. Make sure to give them plenty of hay.

What do demosticated rabbits eat?

12-18% rabbit pellets from a feed store, supplemented by fresh greens

Can rabbits eat uncooked rice?

No, rabbits should not eat uncooked rice regularly. While a small amount will not harm your rabbit, the majority of their diet should be hay, pellets, and fresh vegetables.

Do rabbits get tired of their food?

No. Mostly, rabbits should eat hay, but pellets (dried rabbit food) are an important part of their diet, as well as fresh water and fresh leafy greens (like Romaine lettuce). Some rabbits are sensitive to pellets and too many pellets in their diet makes them sick. These rabbits should eat less pellets and more leafy greens. Some rabbits are so sensitive that their owners have slowly transitioned their rabbits to a no-pellets diet (just hay and fresh greens), but this can be very risky and time-consuming because good pellets (there are bad ones -- read labels!) are specially formulated to meet a rabbit's dietary needs (with all the necessary vitamins and nutrients). If you feed your rabbit a no-pellets diet, you probably need to feed some dietary supplements, too. Definitely, no one should consider this extreme diet without first doing a lot of research, finding someone who has successfully done this diet before who can offer advice, and talking to a few different knowledgeable "rabbit-savvy" vets first. If your rabbit is healthy on a normal diet of hay, pellets, and greens, don't even consider changing it: rabbits are very sensitive to diet changes and a change in diet can make them sick.

Can you give your rabbit sugar cane mulch?

No. Rabbits should eat a diet of mostly hay, with some fresh greens and high-quality pellets daily, as well as fresh water. Sugars should be strictly limited in a rabbit's diet. Mush and mulch foods are not recommended for healthy rabbits because pellets, being hard, do wear down a rabbit's teeth some (which is important, as a rabbit's teeth are continually growing). See the related question below for more details and helpful links.

Can rabbits eat noodles?

No, rabbits can't eat noodles, but if you do they wouldn't eat it or they would eat it and choke and die. _________ Vegetables, fresh grass and unlimited hay should make up the bulk of a rabbit's diet. Fruits for treats. Avoid beans, potatoes, cauliflower, cabbage, rhubarb. No noodles. Supplement with pellets, but they are mostly for commercial production of rabbits and are very high in calories. They also do not promote healthy digestion as well as fresh vegetables. If your rabbit has not had fresh vegetables, introduce them in small quantities and one at a time; problem vegetables can then be eliminated from the diet.

What are the five nutrients needed in a rabbit's diet?

Good quality pellets, fresh hay, water and fresh vegetables, and a limited amount of fruit.

Your rabbit is picking around the pellets?

If your rabbit is eating other food presented to it, most likely the pellets are stale or tainted, and so your rabbit is finding them unappetizing. Try changing to a fresh batch and see if your rabbit likes them better. Pellets should not be purchased in large quantities or kept for long periods of time, as they can easily spoil. Also, rabbits should not be fed only pellets, they need a balanced diet which includes plenty of fresh vegetables. But if your rabbit is not eating anything at all, best get it to a vet. Rabbits often pick through their pellets when they're given a "muesli" (pellets mixed with seeds, nuts, dried fruit or vegetables, grains, etc.). This is one reason why muesli pellets aren't good: the rabbit will eat them selectively and miss out on the right balance of nutrients. Also, they tend to be too high in fats, and sometimes proteins, so they can make rabbits sick (obese in the longterm, or GI stasis in the short-term). It's better to give your rabbits "extruded" pellets (these are just plain pellets, nothing else mixed in). Even some of these pellets are too high in fats or proteins, so you should research what makes a good pellet and read the nutritional information. See the related questions below for more details and helpful links.

What soft types of food do rabbit like?

A rabbit can't eat a diet of just soft foods. Rabbits teeth grow continuously, so they need fibrous foods they need to chew a lot, so that their teeth grind together and wear themselves down. Hay is the best kind of food for this purpose. Rabbits also eat pellets, which are crunchy, but in comparison to hay they basically melt in the mouth, so pellets alone isn't enough. Soft foods rabbits can eat, as part of a balanced diet, include fresh fruits and vegetables -- but they shouldn't eat too many of these because they can get sick. These are the only things rabbits should eat! Hay, pellets, fresh fruits and vegetables. See the related question below for more details and helpful links about a healthy rabbit diet.

What are all the things rabbits eat?

Hay, some types of soft wood, pellets, dried leaves and flowers, some types of vegetables and fruits, and fresh grass (for the dried leaves and flowers and fresh grass, the rabbit will pick them himself). For details see the related questions below!

What should a rabbit's basic diet consist of?

rabbit feed pellets. you can give them a peice of fruit or vegetables when they're grown as a treat. Most importantly: fresh hay and water. Hay is the best way to prevent many rabbit illnesses and diseases. Certain fresh leafy greens are also good in a daily "salad"; but all other fruits and vegetables should be considered treats.See the related question below for details about a healthy rabbit diet.

Do rabbits eat potato skin?

No, rabbits can't eat salted potato peelings, because processed seasonings and spices aren't good for rabbits, and too much salt isn't good for rabbits, either. Rabbits get all the minerals and salt they need in their pellets. Rabbits should only eat clean, fresh produce (vegetables, fruits, herbs, plants), not any dried seasonings or flavourings. Potato peelings aren't very good for rabbits because they're pretty high in starches. If you feed your rabbit pellets, you should limit the other starches they eat. Potato peelings aren't a great choice because other vegetables, like carrot and squash, have healthy nutrients as well as some starch, but potato isn't very nutritious. Also, the green parts and eyes on potato peelings are toxic to rabbits. See the related question below for more info and helpful links about a healthy rabbit diet.
