Format it or delete it.
To format a hard drive means to delete any information on the drive and to set up a file system so Windows 7 can read from it and write data to it.

If you are sure you want to delete the windows xp partition then you can use the windows CD to do the job.Boot the machine with the CD in the drive and you should get the option to format the drive.Just be sure this is what you want as you will lose all your data stored on the drive.
To erase a thumb or flash drive, place it in a USB port. Find the drive in Windows Explorer. Right click on the drive in Explorer. A menu will drop down with Format being a choice. Click on Format and follow instructions.
Most cameras come with a USB cable to connect to the computer, Connect it to the computer and wait for the drive to appear in My Computer, right click the drive and click format. In the dialog box, click start, Windows will format(delete everything) drive.

Formatting deletes everything and a drive, disc or card. You should save any information you wish to keep to a separate drive such as your computer then format the card.
