It depends on the cat. If it is young and needing a playmate it may like to have another playmate. However older cats would usually find it difficult to adjust to another cat, so would probably be happier as an only cat.

When a cats sibling gets killed do they knowhow do you know if their grieving?

When a cat is grieving it will stop eating as much as it use to or all together, it will stay away from humans and keep to it's self. A great way to get the cat to stop grieving is to show it that your not going anywhere. Give the cat it's favorite wet food buy it a new toy to where they'll want to interact with you. Cat's are natural born hunters they'll chose prey over grieving any day. The best of luck to you!

How do we take care of our grieving cat her kittens were killed by another tomcat?

You'll need to show her a lot of love and affection. Definatley make sure she eats and if possible buy her really good cat food until she is over it. You should do something about that tomcat and don't let your cat come in contact with it again for she might start something and get hurt as well.

Do cats grieve for each other?

I had a cat who was raised with an older cat from the time he was a kitten. The older cat did not even like him much--they had a relationship of hissing and swatting at each when they passed one another. Yet, when the older cat died, the younger cat seemed to go into a depression that lasted about a month. I asked a psychic what was wrong with my cat and said said he was grieving for another cat that had died (I had not told her I had another cat). I told her they never got along well to begin with, and she said, "Sometimes in the animal kindgom, a worthy advesary can be missed more than a friend."

Where should your cat give birth?

A cat should give birth in a quiet area, some place known to the cat. It should be a place where the cat is comfortable, calm and safe. A cat shouldn't give birth in another cats territory. The other cat and/or cats might think that they are trespassing or invading its territory. Another cat might try to hurt the newborn.

Why is my grieving cat refusing to eat?

A grieving cat may refuse to eat due to stress and sadness from the loss of a companion or change in their environment. This can lead to a loss of appetite and changes in behavior. It is important to provide comfort and support to help your cat through this difficult time. It is sad to lose a pet. However, the time before getting another really depends on how serious the grieving is.

Should you have more than one cat?

You can, but you don't have to. If you already have a cat, base your decision on its personality. If it is very anti-social, don't get another cat. If your cat is friendly, you can get another cat. But if your friendly cat doesn't like the new cat, get rid of it. If your cat doesn't care, you could get one, but the decision is always up to you. I'm not a professional, but this is how I would approach it.

How should you reintroduce a cat to another cat after it has been to the vet?
