I have sims 2 and my friend has sims 3 and if you know what's good for you than get sims 2.On sims 3 if you go to a community lot you can't follow your sims inside you have to wait outside,even if it's a hospital and there's a sim giving birth you just have to wait.And sims 2 has a cheat boolprop testingcheatsenabled true and this will allow you to do many things,like speed up sim pregnancy or get an alien baby or,with expansion packs,make werewolves,plantsims,witches,vampires,and bigfoot.The down part is that you can't make a hospital,pregnant sims won't want to go.Anyway,in comparison sims 2 is much,much,better.
