When you start to learn Chinese, I suggest to learn the Characters at first, not just learn the pinyin. Learning Chinese characters includes four parts, listening, speaking, reading and writing, involving various content of single character, word, sentence and article. As a beginner, learning Chinese characters is the foundation. I recommend MagiChinese, an app can help beginners to master the basic Chinese characters quickly, while providing the subsequent learning content of words and sentences.
Why not learn both? In this day and age, Chinese would probably be more help, but German's a heck of alot easier to learn. Start with German, and once you've wrapped your mind around learning a realtively easy language, move on the the much harder Chinese.

Yes we can but not by searching for individual tutorials. There are many books and video curses available online. You should start with basics, do not jump to advanced portion before learning basics, that's biggest mistake you can make. Go step by step in your learning and use books and video courses. When you learn enough then you can search blogs for individual tutorials and how-tos.
