It has helped me a lot in school because my pencils always fell on the ground and my teacher wouldn't let me pick them up during class- only after- so it was a good thing that I had my last name written on it in a Sharpie. So personally I think having your name on your pencils is a good thing

Are 4b pencils the same as 4hb pencils?

No, 4B pencils and 4H pencils are not the same. The "B" in 4B stands for "black," indicating a softer lead that produces a darker mark, while the "H" in 4H stands for "hard," indicating a harder lead that produces a lighter mark. The grading scale for pencils ranges from H (hard) to B (black), with F (fine point) in between, so 4B is much softer than 4H.

Which kinds of pencils make a dark mark?

Pencils that make a dark mark typically have a softer lead, such as those graded with lower numbers on the H-B scale, specifically 2B, 4B, and 6B. These softer leads contain more graphite and less clay, resulting in a darker and smoother mark on paper. Conversely, harder pencils (like H or F grades) produce lighter marks due to their increased clay content. For the darkest marks, artists often prefer using 6B or 8B pencils.
