Answer:Dungeons and Dragons is a roleplaying game produced by Wizards of the Coast. It is played by 5 to 7 people, one of whom assumes the role of "Dungeon Master" or DM. The other players assume a role called a "character", similar to an actor in a play. The character is represented by attributes, skills and statistics written on a "character sheet". The characters are often represented by miniature figurines as well. The DM acts as a storyteller and referee, describing the setting and actions of all the other inhabitants of a fantasy world. Through their interactions, the DM and other players tell a story of fantasy heroics, rolling dice to determine the success or failure of various actions.

You can play this game online using a virtual game table like OpenRPG or Maptool . You can find other folks that use said Virtual Tabletops at The Tangled Web.

Some people think that it promotes evil, and encourages people to avoid reality, and so they are against it. Others admire it as a game and enjoy the role-playing experience.

In my opinion, it isn't any worse than a video game, or watching television... and some of the newer spin-off games don't even allow evil alignments for player characters. I think this encourages people to play heroes and to play in a positive way.
