Well, professional athletes have participated in all kinds of events with fractures heavily bandaged. For them, maintaining their position in the rankings can be more important than the risk of making an injury worse.

But if you're just riding/racing for the fun of it it's far more sensible to let the wrist heal first.

There will be more races, but you only have one body. Heal first, race later is a far better deal than the other way around.
