If you are taking them out in public, be aware that strep is contagious, and you could be passing it on to other people. Strep throat can be very serious, especially if passed on to someone with a low immune system.
Strep is usually accompanied by headache, fever, nausea, muscle pain, and sometimes a rash. It is also quite painful. The child should be taken to the doctors for antibiotics, and then made to rest. The doctor should be able to tell you when the contagious period will pass. With antibiotics, it actually shouldn't be too long. Be advised that in more serious situations, strep can cause rheumatic fever. It is better to just take a couple of days and allow the child to recover. Why push it?
Personally, I think if your child feels well enough to go, then there should be no reason to not let them go. Just be aware that there needs to be a back-up plan to take them home if they start to not feel well.
You should not send your child to school, when the child is sick. That should be treated as serious crime. So the child should be at home for about one week. Your physician may ask to isolate the child for ten days. There are many carriers of streptococcus in the society. The efficacy of such isolation can be questioned.
Moxifloxacin should not be used for strep throat. Moxifloxacin is higher antibacterial. Strep throat can be treated very easily.
Amoxicillin should not be used to treat the strep throat. Tablet penicillin V is used to treat the strep throat.

The short answer is "Yes". Dogs do not get strep throat, but they may harbor Streptococcus pyogenes (also called Group A strep, what causes strep throat) from being around humans. They serve as a carrier of it for human infections. So, the dog should be treated when a family member has strep throat, especially if recurring infections occur in the human.
