No, there's no need to remove a tampon to use the toilet.

As tampons go into your vagina, and you either urinate from your urethra or deficate from your anus, there's no need to remove a tampon when you use the bathroom. Just make sure to move the tampon string out of the way or it may get dirty or wet, which may lead to infections, odour, and discomfort.

As a note tampons need to be changed every 4-6 hours, changing every time you use the bathroom would be changing too often - thus tampons would still be dry and friction of this against vaginal tissues will increase tissue damage so pose higher risk of TSS.

Is it gross to change your tampon in class?

Of course it would be 'gross' to change your tampon in class, just as it would be 'gross' to go to the bathroom while you're in class. If you need to change your tampon simply let your teacher know you're going to the bathroom and go change as anyone else would. Ideally time changing your tampons so you can do it between class rather than missing your lessons.

If you are on your period and you feel something like a tampon come out can that be a miscarriage if you know you weren't wearing a tampon?

Did it go down the toilet? It was probably just a clot, though you may have had a very early miscarriage. It is thought that about 50% of pregnancies end this way.

Can a tampon be flushed and go through a sewage grinder?

Tampons should never be flushed. Many tampon companies claim their tampons can be flushed to make them seem more convenient - as they are self-regulated they can make these claims even if not true, as long as a tampon passes the Brunelle Flushability test where a tampon passes the U bend in a toilet set-up in a laboratory they can call tampons 'flushable'. Tampons don't break-down in water like waste or toilet paper, instead they expand so can cause major blockages in the toilet or further-up the system, tampons can also bypass sewage treatment systems and make their way into waterways.

What if you are going white water rafting and started your period this morning what do you do when you have to spend 15 hours on a boat with no option to change a tampon?

There is no way that you would be expected to sit on a boat for 15 hours without any access to a toilet - it just wouldn't happen, if you have access to a toilet then you can change your tampon and pads. If you are ever in a situation where you can't change a tampon every 4-6 hours then you shouldn't use a tampon, you can leave menstrual cups or softcups in for up to 12 hours so could potentially go a little longer without risk.

Should you take your tampon out when you swim use the restroom or go to sleep?

You do NOT need to take out your tampon when you swim or go to the restroom. Doctors advise you not to wear them to bed because of the length of time you are asleep. I hope that helped!! If you sleep for more than 8 hours you should wear a pad instead. Otherwise it is ok to wear a tampon.
