If it's warming up, then it's probably trying to print something. Turning it off will disrupt the process and you'll have to start over from the beginning.
If your printer is attached directly to your computer, you should share it (the way you do it depends of your operating system). If your printer is connected directly to your network (WiFi or Ethernet) it should be properly configured.

Double-check on the power button on the printer, make sure it's not stuck. If not, unplug the power adapter from the printer. The power adapter is the black box behind the printer where the power cord is attached. Wait at least 30 seconds before plugging it back in. That should refresh the printer. Hope this helps.
If you click on the button that brings up all of your programs (the one you click when you want to turn off the computer) and click on control panel, there will be an icon that has a printer/scanner. You can click on that and it should take you right to your printer.
