mainly, 64 bit allows it to address (recognise/use) more than the 4 GB barrier (2^32 bytes) that is encountered in 32 bit versions of windows. This 4 GB barrier includes the system's RAM, video RAM (on your video/graphics card), and etc.. (e.g. the cache (specialised memory), on your CPU, hard-drive, etcc..) For example, if you have 4 gigabytes of RAM installed with 32 bit windows, you wouldn't be able to use all of it (some is allocated to stuff like video RAM)

There are 64 bit versions of Windows 7 as well...32 bit and 64 are virtually the same for the average user. It all really depends on how much RAM/Memory you have in your computer. If you have more than 3.5GB then use 64 bit..if you have less than that use 32bit. That is the only real thing when dealing with 32 or 64 bit, unless you are a programmer.

depends on whats better? cheap? or performance? 32 bit is cheaper but i think the difference is 32 bit can only have up to 2 gigabytes or ram and 64 can have more
