What is the difference between Tempered Glass and Annealed Glass and which one is better?

Tempering is the process to add properties to the raw glass and to make it Standard or Toughened. If tempered (Heated) and cooled slowly, it becomes standard glass on the other hand if tempered and cooled rapidly, it gains different properties and becomes tough or is called toughened glass. What would cause the back window to implode?

Rear and side windows of all vehicles sold in the United States are made of "tempered glass". Tempered glass is used because it has a desirable characteristic in that it does not create long, sharp shards when it breaks. Tempered glass breaks into crystal shapes, with far less dangerous edges. You can still be cut by broken tempered glass, but not the deep, dangerous cuts that threatens life. When glass is tempered it must first be formed into the final shape. Tempered glass cannot be cut, and even slight bending will cause the entire sheet to shatter into the characteristic small crystals. If the vehicle is heated unevenly and the vehicle is attempting bend the glass, it will shatter. As a result, auto manufactures make sure that the vehicles do not put those types of stresses on the glass. Typically, when tempered auto glass shatters, the glass has been damaged through scratches or chips. After that, even moderate temperature change can cause the tempered glass to shatter. The scratches or chips don't even need to be very severe.

How do you Make tempered glass?

Tempered glass, also known as toughened glass is commonly used in cars and telephone booths. The glass is first cut into specific size, then put into a heat oven where the glass passes through temperatures of 620 degree Celsius. As soon as it comes out of over rapid cool air is sprayed onto the glass except for center, this causes a gas trap in the center of the glass and this is what makes it so strong.

What brand of glass coffee tables are sturdy enough for an actively lived-in room?

The brand isn't as important as the composition of the glass itself. Traditional glass tables break into lethal shards, Just a trip can lead to serious injury. Instead, make sure your table has a tempered glass top, also known as safety glass. Like a shattered car window, a broken tempered glass table breaks into small pieces that aren't dangerously sharp. Regardless, make sure your glass table is never used as a seat.

Why tempered glass explode?

The most common reason why glass explodes is that it is subjected to an extreme but uneven temperature change; if you heat up one side of a piece of glass faster than the other side, you get uneven thermal expansion, which then causes great stress in the glass, which can make it explode. Just placing a hot frying pan on a piece of glass can have that effect. Gunfire can also make glass explode. Shockwaves from explosions can make glass explode. So if you live in a war zone, you are at an increased risk of having your glass explode.

What are the types of glass they use in cars?

Side and rear uses "tempered" glass. Tempered glass is used because it breaks into small pieces and does not create long, sharp shards which can stab you. Windshields are made of "Laminated" glass, meaning that two pieces are glued together using a clear, sticky material. Laminated glass is used to protect you as well. The pieces are stuck together so that the big pieces don't get loose and fly into your face. The advantage of laminated glass is that it will hold together enough to make it so that you can still see out, so that you can hopefully have a little better chance of controlling your car.
