The brain mostly works without conscious effort !

Imagine you are sleeping. Your brain regulates your breathing. It controls your dreaming.

It wakes you up in the event of a slight danger.

Even when you are awake the brain does a lot of work without your knowing it.

All this and more requires plenty of energy eventhough you may think it is effortless work.
