The narrow bow of a ship is a wedge, a type of simple machine. It allows the ship to cut through water with less resistance due to its sharp, pointed shape.

The Golden Hind was the ship that Sir Francis Drake sailed. A copy of the ship has been made and can be boarded at various ports. I went on it and was surprised how small it really was. It comprised of 3 decks and the third deck was so narrow that to walk around in it you had to get on your knees. The only sleeping quarters was the Captains. Seeing the ship gave me a new appreciation of how brave men like Drake were.
On a cruise ship it is called a cabin or berth. On a military vessel or merchant ship it is called a compartment.

A luxury ship is a ship that is very fancy.It can be both big and small.
Gangway is the position at the side of a ship through which personnel (officers and men) board the ship at harbour. Brow is a narrow passage between the gangway and the jetty (at harbour) for embarking and disembarking from the ship.

Christopher Columbus used the type of sailing vessel called a caravel. Caravels were a common sailing ship built in the 15th and 16th centuries. They were small ships with a broad bow, a high narrow poop deck, and usually had three masts.
So the wind can pass throught them easily.
The front of a ship is the Bow. The rear of a ship is the Stern. This is the same for small boats as well.
