The worst judgment calls were made in the selection of appoimtments to the Supreme Court, but he also receives low marks for some of his choices in the White House staff which led to serious corruption charges and a tarnish on his record. Of course he also wanted to disband the US Marine Corps that he considered to be the Navy's police force.
He made no mistakes, that just a way for an author to sell his books. Controversy SELLS! That's why the Battle of Jutland (1916/WW1) was so popular...it was controversial; a battle of lost opportunities...and who really won!? Truman was made fun of (Truman's folly), as most "leaders" are, it's part of politics. He made the decision to use the "A-Bomb" which ended WW2. No mistake there...just controversial, because it's a news worthy item & interesting to talk about (discuss). Truman made the decision to "fight a limited war" in Korea; no mistake there...because if he didn't, Korea could have easily have gone NUCLEAR; the USSR had the Atomic Bomb in 1949! Again, authors need to sell books, or they don't get paid.
