Why is feedback in mass communication said to be delayed?

First, feedback in this context does not refer to a loud and distorted sound coming out of your speakers. This kind of feedback refers to a response or a reaction from the audience. In mass communication, feedback is delayed because there is no way for the speaker or performer or author to know what every member of the audience is thinking or feeling. For example, I just wrote a new book. (Books are an example of mass communication.) I hope you will read it, but when you do, how will I know whether you like it or not? Even if you send me an e-mail, there is a delay between when you got the book, when you read it, and when you sent the e-mail. Or, let's say I just watched my favorite program on TV. I want to tell the lead actress that I think her performance was amazing. However, there will be delay from the time I send the message to when she receives it (assuming she receives it at all). SO, one characteristic of mass communication is that when the message is sent out via radio or TV or a magazine or the internet or some other mass medium, there is a gap between when the public reacts to it and when they are able to respond. That is why feedback is said to be "delayed."

What are Communications satellites?

Communication satellites receive signals from antennae on the Earth's surface, or from other satellites, amplify the signals, and beam them back to Earth. Because they are hundreds or thousands of miles up, their signals can cover a larger area than most radio or television signals broadcast on the surface, because of the Earth's curvature. (Radio waves don't go around corners well.) Some communications satellites are in quite low orbits, around 150 miles high. Others are in "geostationary" orbits at about 22,500 miles, where their rotation around the Earth is the same speed as the Earth's rotation, so that they stay above a particular spot all the time. Most broadcast satellites for TV, phone service and satellite radio are geostationary.

Was TV invented to show commercials?

Well, I'm not completely sure, but what I think is that the TV shows that are on are on because the company of commercials that pay for it. Like, you know on YTV there's always commercials of Toy products, Cleaning products, Food products, Restaurant commercials and many more? And how they always seem to repeat, even once or twice every commercial? Well, showing commercials during shows pays for the shows. That's why TV was sort of invented for commercials. I hope this helped! :D *-*

Yes, they do. Because the depth of televisions is getting ever smaller, the speakers are also becoming smaller.
