If what you're seeing are blue/white sparks, then that would be the discharge of static electricity.
As the fibers of the blanket brush over your skin (or socks, if you wear socks to bed) the electrons in the blanket will jump onto your body, then use you as a ground to discharge into the earth.
This is that same static electricity that you get shocked by occasionally when grabbing a door knob or other metallic object.
