Commodore Dewey, soon to be Admiral, sailed his squadron into Manila Bay from China with the mission of destroying the Spanish Fleet there. There was poor coordination between the Spanish units in the harbor leading to Dewey easily making it in to the harbor itself where he engaged in a gunnery duel with the motley collection of ships that the Spanish had cobbled together. The Spanish ships were sunk in a very one-sided battle. I believe there was only one or several casualties in Dewey's squadron, only injuries though, no deaths.
