IF by conventional television you mean the CRT TV, that is the Cathode Ray Tube tv, it works by bombarding electrons on light-emitting electron sensitive material like phosphorous. The cathode ray is nothing but a flow of electrons. The LCD tv or the Liquid Crystal Display tv works by activating certain crystals with a minute electric charge. These crystals forms a matrix and forms images. The LCD consumes far less energy than the CRT and consumes less space.
