Should be located in a removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose Drain about 1 gallon of coolant from the radiator Remove this housing Note how thernmostat is installed Clean both surfaces Replace thermostat and gasket Re-install housing Re-fill coolant slowly to prevent an air lock Start engine and look for leaks Run engine to normal operating temperature with heater on Re-check coolant level

Follow the upper raditor hose from the raditor to the motor, the raditor hose is connected to the thermostat housing, take the houseing off, the thermostat is under the housing.
under the throttle body behind the exhaust pipe on the driver side of the motor nothin but net
it's under the throttle body ,(air intake) on right side(back of the motor)pully and belts is on the leftside(front of motor)1999 grand am 3.4 sfi.

Follow the top radiator hose, to where it intersects with the motor. This would be the thermostat housing. Remove this, and the thermostat will be exposed.
