The stevens model 82 was made by stevens between 1936-1937.there was a total production of 35,500 guns made during that time span.

A key determinant is how the company name is marked (Stevens, J. Stevens Arms, J. Stevens Arms and Tool, J. Stevens Arms Co). Then you can date its manufacture +/- 20 years. Looking at the barrels should tell you if it is damascus. You should be able to find pictures of damascus and other laminated barrels on the internet. Most Stevens doubles will also have a patent date marked on the right side of the receiver. This will give you a "no earlier than" date for its manufacture.According to the 5th Edition of Standard Catalog of Firearms (Krause Publications), p. 677 "Collectors will find a date code stamped on every double-barrel shotgun in the Stevens brands produced between March 1949 and December 1968. Usually, it is behind the hinge pin or ahead of the triggerguard on the bottom of the frame. It will appear as a small circle containing a number and letter. The letters cofrrespond to the years shown in the following table. Significance of the numbers is not known [examples are provided: A=1949; B=1950; C=195l, etc.]." I determined that my Stevens 311D is a "circle G," or, made in 1955.More Information NeededThis can only be answered by knowing exactly how the company name is marked (Stevens, J. Stevens Arms, J. There will be a date code stamped on most every Stevens double-barrel shotguns produced between March 1949 and December 1968. Usually it is behind the hinge pin or ahead of the triggerguard on the bottom of the frame. It will appear as a small circle containing a number and letter. The letters correspond to to year. The significance of the number is unknown. The lettering starts with A - 1949, B - 1950 etc up to N -1962, P - 1963 R - 1964 on through V - 1968.One is listed on Gunbroker right now, in near mint condition, for $450. (Sept 2009)

it most likely is a trade mark.

The Stevens date code usually appears on the bottom of the frame behind the hinge pin. I dont believe the marks you have on the water table are the date codes. The Z was not used, the (A) is 1949 and the (I) is 1957, but these usually have numbers in the circle with them. sales@countrygunsmith.net

its 1164 morning glory circle, westport

The Model 52A was made until 1937, so production of the 52B should have followed that. Both J. Stevens and Springfield were owned by Savage- you might check with their customer service department.

Morning Glory Circle (can't remember the number) 1164 Morning Glory Circle

The Stevens Model 520 pump shotgun was manufactured in Chicopee Mass from 1912-1932. They were Quite often refered to as a trench gun. They had different options on them and one was the barrel. It came in 26,28,30 and 32 inch barrels. Some were made for and sold by Montgomery Wards at one time. Most of Stevens Models were made for other sellers at one time or another. Value in average condoition is 150.00- 250.00.

ELG is the marking showing the rifle was test fired at the Belgian Proof House in Leige, Belgium. Unfortunately, there were thousands of these, and not enough information in your post to identify it.

Stevens Visible Loader rifles in good condition are selling in the $150-$200 range. Truly excellent examples will bring more. sales@countrygunsmith.net

Unfortunately, the letter I in a circle does not help date the rifle. Company mark. These little rifles are somewhat uncommon (the Crackshot was more common) They were made between 1911-1930. Would NOT shoot modern high velocity ammo- but standard velocity, shorts or CB caps should be fine- but not Stingers or Yellow jackets. You rilfe was also known as a Stevens Model 12.

how old is a model 5100 tru-test 12 gauge shotgun letters under barrel are E H B w a circle around it and a 4 and a V on other side

Are you sure there isn't a model number on the right side of the receiver, 5000, 311, 215? There are no serialation lists for Stevens Arms, but with a model number it can usually be narrowed down to a couple of decades. Without one, I can only say it was between 1920 and 1948.

You can get an approximate date from the way the company name is marked on the gun. * J. Stevens and Company = 1864 to 1886. * J. Stevens Arms and Tool Co = 1886 to 1916. * J. Stevens Arms Co = 1920 to about 1948. * Stevens (or Savage/Stevens) = about 1948 to 1991 or after 1999. * No Stevens guns were made 1917-1919 or 1992-98. Also, any double barrel shotgun with the Stevens brands made from 1949 to 1968 is marked with a number and letter in a small circle on the bottom of the frame. A thru N = 1949 thru 1962, P = 1963, R thru V = 1964 thru 1968. If you need more information, you can contact Savage Arms on the web (savagearms.com I think) for information about newer guns. The Stevens historian will research any older gun in the Stevens factory records for $15. The address is: Mr. John Callahan, 53 Old Quarry Road, Westfield, MA 01085.
