To stop severe bleeding of the arm, you should apply pressure on the brachial artery of the arm. This will reduce the flow of blood.
Alternatively, a Combat Action Tourniquet may be applied to stop bleeding.

∙ 14y agoThe next step if you cannot stop bleeding from direct pressure is to contain the bleeding until help arrives, if the bleeding still continues use a tourniquet but that is an absolute last resort.

The application a tourniquet is a last resort as it cuts off blood flow to the limb and therefore also oxygen. When tissue cells don't get enough oxygen they start dying, (necrosis), which will lead to gangrene.The next step after direct pressure is to 'Elevate' the limb. ∙ 13y agoPut pressure on it, and use a tourniquet if need be, while going to the nearest emergency room of a hospital. Call 911 if it's more serious than that and an ambulance will be sent out.
