Atoms are composed of particles called nucleons. There are 2 types of nucleons. They are the positively charged proton and the neutral (no charge) neutrons. There are also negatively charged particles called electrons that orbit the nucleus.

protons and neutrons. i could be wrong, but protons might have something called korks in them, but otherwise electrons only have korks (electrons are not in the nucleus, just to make that clear).

An atom, without going into too much detail, consists of three things:

  • You have Protons which are positively (+1) charged particles with an atomic weight of 1
  • Neutrons which have no charge and have an atomic weight of 1 too
  • And finally, you have Electrons which are negatively (-1) charged and have an atomic weight of virtually nothing.
