Word Count
The sum of a positive number and a negative number is positive when the magnitude of the positive number is greater than the magnitude of the negative number. In other words, if the positive number is larger than the absolute value of the negative number, their sum will be positive. For example, if we have 5 (positive) and -3 (negative), their sum is 2, which is positive. Conversely, if the negative number's magnitude is greater, the sum will be negative.

No, clicking on rulers does not let you see the total number of words. You can view the total number of words in the Word Count Dialog Box
Normally at the bottom right of the screen it show you, this is if you are using windows.
Sum = Sum + first number Sum = Sum + second number Sum = Sum + third number Average = 1/3 x Sum
sum - means addition less - means subtraction twice - means multiply by 2
sum= answer of an addition question.. so the number of the sum is the answer.
